Lisbon is teeming with art. Be it on streets and buildings, murals, or art galleries, residents and tourists can soak up different styles, art forms, and talent. In this article, we take you on a stroll through some of the best galleries in the city.

Foco

Founded by architect Benjamin Gonthier, Foco Gallery hosts exhibitions by prominent Portuguese and international artists. Most focused on contemporary art, the gallery boasts a minimalistic approach and every time thereโ€™s an exhibition opening, it gathers artists, entrepreneurs, and other interesting people. Benjamin has collected quite a list of talents, including Francisco Trรชpa, Bence Magyarlaki, and Clara Imbert, among many others.

Cristina Guerra

Gallery Cristina Guerra organizes several contemporary art exhibitions from both internationally known artists and some high-quality talents. The gallery prides itself in welcoming new things, but also lets the world know about the Portuguese artists by showcasing their works at events abroad.

Madragoa

Madragoa is located in a cute neighborhood and although the interiors have been refurbished into a modern style, the building where itโ€™s located still preserves a traditional design and architecture. The gallery welcomes different art mediums, from painting to sculpture, visual art to installations. Madragoa and its artists are also present at several prominent fairs around the world, such as Art Basel, Contemporary Art Now, Frieze New York, and Arco Lisboa.

No-No

Ana Raquel Ruivo and Luรญs Castanheira revamped ACERVO and turned it into whatโ€™s now the No-No gallery. Located in Estrela, the venue is home to various contemporary art exhibitions. From renowned international names to still-to-be-discovered talent, the gallery also works closely with other spaces, art fairs, and other institutions to take the artistsโ€™ work out there.

Underdogs

Located in Marvila, Underground is a must-visit gallery for urban art lovers. Founded by internationally renowned Portuguese artist Vhils, it showcases several groundbreaking talents like Felipe Pantone, AkaCorleone, Fidel ร‰vora, Tamara Alves, and Julien Raffin. Vhils is one of the strongest influences on making street art truly recognized out there. Besides hosting exhibitions, the gallery also organizes tours throughout the city for people to see a few of the paintings in Lisbonโ€™s walls.
