Discover Lisbon through the eyes of our Interior Design Project Manager – Carlos Vasconcelos Matias – someone who knows how to design soulful living inside and out.
The best sunset spot in Lisbon?
If you’re up to discover beyond the city, drive out to Kailua in Fonte da Telha. Watching the sunset over the Atlantic with your feet in the sand, while drinking a glass of wine, is pure magic. But if you’re staying in the city, nothing beats the view from Miradouro da Senhora do Monte. It’s peaceful, panoramic, and totally worth the unavoidable city jogging.
A hidden gem restaurant only locals know about?
Lucinda’s, tucked away in Alfama, is a true local and genuine treasure. On summer nights you can dine outdoors under the stars, with live fado full of soul and personality. But fair warning, if you talk too loud, the resident fadista might playfully call you out mid-performance. It’s all part of the charm.
Your favorite bar in town?
Rocco, designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, is a bar that’s as beautiful as the cocktails are good. It’s a stylish escape right in the heart of the city.
The one shop or market in Lisbon we absolutely shouldn’t miss?
If there’s one spot in Lisbon you absolutely shouldn’t miss, it’s Under the Cover. More than just a bookshop, it’s a quiet haven for visual thinkers and creative minds. Specializing in independent magazines, art books, and design-driven publications, it’s the kind of place where inspiration lives on every shelf. The space provokes you to think, pause, explore, and reconnect with ideas away from the screen.
As an Interior Designer what store or gallery do you recommend?
I always make time for Kubikgallery. It’s more than a gallery, it’s a space where contemporary art meets emotion.
Their curated selection of bold, thought-provoking works is perfect for adding soul and character to any space.
